Buying an AirTrack: What you really need to look out for

Looking to buy an AirTrack but don't know where to start? Thickness, length, rebound - 5 criteria to help you make the right choice immediately.

You want to buy an AirTrack – but the size, thickness, price, and variety of models are making the decision more complicated than expected. It doesn't have to be.

If you know these five points, you'll know exactly what you need in ten minutes:

1. Thickness: 10 cm, 20 cm, or 30 cm?

The thickness determines the rebound – and thus how safe and comfortable your training feels.

10 cm: Compact, lightweight, ideal for stretching, floor gymnastics, and first elements. Perfect for a child's room or small living spaces. Not a high-performance device, but a true entry point. E.g.: our AirFloor Home

20 cm: The sweet spot for most athletes. Enough cushioning for dismounts, flick-flacks, and handstands – without the soft, energy-sapping feeling. Anyone who wants to train seriously, without being in a professional environment, will land here. E.g.: our AirTrack Light

30 cm: Maximum damping for advanced elements, somersaults, and intensive training. More for ambitious gymnasts, camps, and club use. The bounce is noticeably stronger – for real high-flying. E.g.: the AirTrack P3

2. Length: How much space do you really need?

In short: More is almost always better – but not always possible.

  • 3-5 m: For children, stretching, rolls, and simple jumps. Fits in most living rooms.
  • 6-8 m: For serious hobby athletes. Here you can gain momentum, combine elements, and build real pressure.
  • 10-15 m: Club standard. For flick-flack combinations, somersaults with a run-up, and professional training.

Important: Measure your available space before buying. An AirTrack that you can't inflate is useless – no matter how good the model is.

3. Rebound: Soft or responsive?

The rebound behavior might seem like a matter of taste at first glance – but it's not entirely.

Softer models (thinner versions, cheaper entry-level devices) absorb energy. This is safe for beginners but quickly frustrating if you're training explosive jumps, handstands, or chained dismounts. You're working against the device.

High-quality AirTracks with strong rebound give you back the energy you put in. This feels different – and it makes a real difference in progress.

4. Material and workmanship

Not all AirTracks are built equally. Three things to look out for:

Drop-Stitch technology: The inner material connects the top and bottom with thousands of small threads. This ensures consistent thickness and a stable surface – even when you land on it with full weight.

Non-slip surface: Sounds trivial, but it makes all the difference. Especially important for barefoot training or sports shoes on smooth surfaces.

Valve and pump: A good valve keeps the air pressure stable. Some models come without a pump – that's a hidden cost factor that many notice too late.

But good news: All our AirTracks are from AirTrack Factory, the number one in terms of quality!

5. Location: Home or club?

This is perhaps the most important filter of all.

For home use, you want a device that is quick to set up, easy to store, and suitable for everyday use. Carrying bag, weight, inflation time – all of these play a role if you want to regularly pack and unpack the AirTrack.

For club use, durability, size, and robustness are important. Here, the device is used daily, often by several athletes at the same time. You don't want a compromise product here.
